Are you feeling overwhelmed, ashamed, and hopeless; anxious about withdrawal or losing control; isolated and distrustful; mixed-feelings about change (wanting help but fearing the loss of your 'best friend' ); guilty and shameful; physically and mentally exhausted; and fearful of stigma, judgment, or the unknown process of treatment.
Addiction Counselling:
helps people overcome substance use or behavioural addictions through non-judgmental treatment with assessment, individualized program planning, relapse prevention, and development of recovery skills. Addictions counselling typically uses evidence‑based methods (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy [CBT], Motivational Interviewing, and Psychodynamic Therapy), refers to medical care when needed, and addresses co‑occurring mental‑health and social needs.
Positive Outcomes of Addiction Counselling:
-
Reduced substance use or on-going abstinence, or safer use, through relapse‑prevention skills and treatment compliance.
-
Improved mental and physical health (less depression/anxiety, better sleep, stabilized medical symptoms) with community support care and coping-strategies.
-
Restore relationships and social functioning (repair family relationships, employment stability, support network companions) that help support long‑term recovery.
